Use the Self Sign Up feature to enable new and existing users to self assign to Teams, Courses, Learning Paths, or simply gain access to your Litmos site.

A token is used to create the code and the auto assignment type for the code that a user would use to self sign-up. To create a token:
- Navigate to Account > Litmos Features > Self Sign Up
- Select "Add Token".
- Enter the information desired in the fields and select "Save".
See below for more information about each field.
Edit a Token
Once a Token has been created, it can be edited at any time by an Account Owner. To edit a Token:
- Navigate to Account > Litmos Features > Self Sign Up
- Select "Edit Token"
- Enter the information desired in the fields and select "Save". See below for more information about each field.
Token Fields
Code - The code is the alphanumeric code that learners will enter to upon self sign-up to signify which token they are referencing and the Course, Learning Path, or Team they are signing up for.
Token Type - There are four available token types. Only one token type may be given to each token.
- Empty - gives a user access to your Litmos site without assigning them to a Course, Learning Path, or Team.
- Courses - assigns a user to a specific Course. After selecting "Course" for the Token Type, click "Select Course", choose the desired Course and click "Select".
- Learning Path - assigns a user to a specific Learning Path. After selecting "Learning Path" for the Token Type, click "Select Learning Path", choose the desired Learning Path and click "Select".
- Team - assigns a user to a specific Team. After selecting "Team" for the Token Type, click "Select Team", choose the desired Team and click "Select".
Maximum Activation - The number of times this code can be used. For security reasons, this field must contain a figure.
Token Expiration - Set the date that the code will automatically expire. Users who have used the code to self sign-up will still be allowed to log in, however, the code will no longer allow users to self sign-up using that code.
Active - Manually set this code to be Active or Inactive to control when users can use the code to access the account.
Note: Only users with the Account Owner access role will be able to create a Token.
Note: If a Token is expired, either from the expiration date or being made Inactive, users who have used the code to self sign up will still be allowed to log in, however, the code will no longer allow new users to self sign up using that code.
How a user Self Signs Up
To allow a user to self sign up, provide the user with the Self Sign Up URL and the code associated with the Course, Learning Path, or Team they will need to self sign up. The user will then:
- Navigate to the Self Sign-Up URL. (see below for more information)
-
User enters their First Name, Last Name, Email address and token Code (Learners will be locked out for 2 hours if an incorrect code is entered more than 10 times from the same IP).
- The log in email will be sent to the user with the log in details.
Note: If a learner does not receive the log in email, have them check their spam/junk folder.
Where to find the Self Sign-Up URL
Method 1:
- Navigate to Account > Litmos Features > Self Sign Up. The URL is listed in the Self Sign-Up section.
Note: If you logged in through the litmos.com website, the URL may be listed as https://go.litmos.com/self-signup/. This URL will not work. To get the correct URL either log in using your unique URL or use Method 2.
Method 2:
Add "/self-signup/" to the end of your unique Litmos site URL. For example, if your unique URL is https://yourcompany.litmos.com, the URL for your Self Sign-Up page will be https://yourcompany.litmos.com/self-signup
