Password and Username Restrictions


  • At least four characters long.
  • No special characters, i.e. ~`!#$%^&*()++{}{}|\:":'<>?,/
  • No Spaces


There are two settings for Passwords, the default password setting and Enforce Strong Passwords.  

Default password setting:  The only restrictions set on passwords is that they must be at least six characters long. Passwords are limited to 20 characters in length. Litmos does not require capital letters, lowercase letters, numbers or special characters however, it is strongly recommended to use these characters to protect your Litmos account.

Enforce Strong Passwords: When a password is set it will need to contain at least:  

  • 8 characters
  • 1 upper case
  • 1 lower case
  • 1 number
  • 1 special character

To turn Enforce Strong Passwords on:

  1. Select the Account Tab
  2. From within the Profile sub tab, check "Enforce Strong Passwords"
  3. Click "Save"
