There are 3 ways to add new users to your Litmos account:
- Add individuals via the People tab
- Add users to Litmos and assign them to a course using just an email address
- Import a group of users in Bulk via the People tab
Add individuals via the People Tab
This is the most straight forward way to add users to your account one by one. In this way you will need to go to the People tab, click the ‘Add a new person’ button and fill in the user’s contact information. You will then have the option to send out their login details email from our system or you can copy and paste the email content in to your own email system if preferred.
This works well if you don’t have too many users to add to your account at one time.
Import a group of users in Bulk via the People tab
You can import a group of users and assign them to teams and courses all at once via our .csv spreadsheet available for download under the People tab. For more information please see our help topic Importing Users in Bulk
Add users to Litmos and assign them to a course using just an email address
This works well if you want to set up one or more new users and assign them to a course all at once. To do this go to the ‘Course’s tab and select the course you want to assign. Click the ‘Add User’ button on the right side of the screen and a box will open up to allow you to select users that already exist and add them to the course. Alternatively, the text box on the left is where you can enter an email address or paste in a string of comma-separated email addresses of users that you would like to add to your Litmos account and assign to the course all at once. As soon as you click ‘Assign’ all new login emails will be sent out to the email addresses you entered.
NOTE: If the email address has already been added to Litmos and belongs to an existing user, they will be assigned the Course but no email will be sent, as they will have already received the same email during their account setup.
This is great if you have a group of email addresses for users that you have to set up in Litmos. Bear in mind that because you have not defined the users’ firstname or lastname at any point, the login detail email that goes out to each new user will not be as personalized – for example the email greeting will be: “Hi firstname.lastname@example.org,”. However, upon first login all users do have opportunity to fill in their correct contact details.
